Box Score Westminster, Md. – Marymount University's women's soccer squad dropped a 4-0 decision to host McDaniel on Wednesday night as the Green Terror used a variety of offensive weapons to stymy the Saints. The Blue and White slip to 0-6-1 on the season.
McDaniel got on the board with a penalty kick in just the 17th minute, courtesy of Julia Pope and a scorcher just beyond the reach of Marymount keeper Holly Wenger.
The first half silently slipped away after Pope's initial strike – both teams battled aimlessly, pressuring on occasion, but never too convincingly.
The second frame saw the Green Terror build momentum and eventually crack the Saints backline for three additional tallies. Just four minutes after the break, a quick pass from Lindsey Keen found Meghan Sturgill, who deftly slid the ball across Wenger's goal line.
The third McDaniel score came in a chaotic flurry just beyond the Saints six-yard box. A clear attempt gone awry resulted in a Marymount defender mis-kicking the ball and playing it into the Saints own net in the 74th minute.
The Green Terror poured in its fourth and final strike in the 81st minute, using another Keen setup to seal the deal. The short-range rebound found Keen first, who in turn found Paola Rosa for the day's final goal.
Both Erin Harris and Amy Lawton fired off two blasts for the Saints, with Heather Bodenhamer adding an on-target chip as well.
Wenger takes the decision for the Saints, collecting five saves and falling to 0-5 on the year.
The Saints return to Long Bridge Park next Wednesday for a nonconference tilt against Trinity (D.C.). Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
