Box Score St. Mary's City, Md. – Marymount University's men's lacrosse team fell 11-6 on the road at defending Capital Athletic Conference champions St. Mary's (Md.) on Monday afternoon. The Saints drop to 8-5 overall and 1-4 in league play.
Nico Burns led the Saints with four goals, including two in man-up situations, while Garrett Nealon and Tyler DaSilva each added another. Jimmy Wendell added two assists with Connor Kellogg chipping in one.
St. Mary's (7-7, 3-2 CAC) led early with a 3-0 first quarter before Burns put the Saints on the board with the first goal of the second frame. The Seahawks then scored four unanswered goals before Burns added his second with 1:29 remaining in the half to make it a 7-2 game going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, St. Mary's posted another 3-0 quarter in the third to lead 10-2.
Marymount looked to make a comeback in the fourth but couldn't make up the difference. Trading leads in the opening minutes, the Saints outscored SMC 3-0 in the final five minutes of play and 4-1 in the stanza.
Defensively, Derek DiGiovanni collected nine saves between the pipes while Jeremy Larkin added another in late game action.
Austin Toland and Greg Louzan both led St. Mary's with two goals.
