Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's lacrosse team won its fifth-straight game to open the 2014 campaign with a decisive 11-2 victory over visiting Hood on Saturday.  The Saints 5-0 start ties the program record set in 2001.

Garrett Nealon and Chad Niergarth both led the Saints with three goals each while Matt Justice added a pair.  Connor Kellogg, Nico Burns and Jimmy Wendell each posted a lone goal for the Blue and White.

Justice and Kellogg each recorded two assists with Niergarth, Wendell, Michael Mene and Lance Bernecker all adding another.

Marymount opened the game on a 4-0 run over the first 10 minutes of action and never looked back.  Hood (0-2) managed just one goal in the first period and was shutout until late in the fourth. The Saints blanked the Blazers for 40 minutes of action spanning four different quarters.

Defensively, Derek DiGiovanni (5-0) picked up the win between the pipes and collected five saves.  Jeremy Larkin saw his first action of the season in relief, earning six saves in a quarter of action.

Chris Madison caused a game-high three turnovers while Garrett Satterwhite and Vince Lodato hauled in five ground balls.

Brett Humphries and Tai Foster both had goals for Hood.

Marymount returns to action on Wednesday as it faces Kean in Charlotte, N.C., over spring break.
