Box Score Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's volleyball team defeated visiting Penn State Altoona 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-15) in non-conference action on Wednesday night. The Saints improve to 7-13 on the season and are now 3-2 at home.
Matt Malloy led the Saints with a match-high 15 kills to go with a contest-best six service aces while Bryce Ernsberger added 11 kills.
Bronson Summers-Torres paced the MU offense with 43 assists.
Defensively, Ernsberger and Chris Lionette collected nine digs each, Tomasz Ksiazkiewicz led the way with seven blocks while Ernsberger had five and Brett Refner chipped in four rejections.
After a back-and-forth first set fell in the Lions (9-8) favor, Marymount rallied for three-straight victories in decisive fashion. The Saints outhit Altoona in each of the final frames, including a sizzling .550 clip in the third. Marymount closed out the match with a defensive stand, forcing the Lions to a negative hitting percentage in the fourth set.
Daniel Roberts and Jacob Byers led Altoona with 11 kills each. Brandon Stitt tallied 12 digs.
