Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's soccer team opened the 2013 season with a tough 2-1 overtime loss against visiting Eastern Mennonite on Friday night. The Saints snap a two-game winning streak on opening day with the loss.

Eastern Mennonite posted the first goal of the game by converting a corner kick opportunity in the seventh minute of action. Both squads would play the rest of the half at a standstill, even on almost every statistical category except for the score.

Five minutes in the second half, freshman Kirsten Campbell took a long pass from sophomore Erin Harris down the right sideline. Darting towards the box, Campbell launched a hard-hit long range shot over the EMU keeper to the top left corner to tie the game at 1-1.

Neither squad managed to find the back of the net in regulation after Marymount's early equalizer, sending the game into overtime. In extra time, EMU managed to put the game-winner away just over seven minutes into bonus ball courtesy of an overcrowded and chaotic situation point-blank in front of the Saints goal line.

Junior Holly Wenger and freshman April Westmark (0-1-0) split time between the pipes for the Saints. Wenger got the start and collected a pair of saves before being relieved by Westmark in the second half and throughout the rest of the game.

Marymount returns to action on Sunday as it travels to face Shenandoah in non-conference action.
