St. Mary's City, Md. – Marymount University's men's soccer team evened its record with a crucial 2-1 victory over St. Mary's (Md.) in Capital Athletic Conference action on Monday. The Saints move to 7-7-2 on the year and 2-3-2 in CAC play to stay in the hunt for a playoff spot with the win.

Kjell Crooke tallied the game-winner in the 60th minute after taking advantage of missed clear by the Seahawks' defense. The Vienna, Va., product collected the misplayed ball in front of the net and tapped home the shot to break open the 1-1 tie.

Marymount jumped on the board early in the ninth minute as Crooke sent a pass from the endline to a waiting Carlos Salinas at the top of the box. Collecting the ball, Salinas delivered a shot past the SMC keeper's left side to put the Saints up 1-0.

The Seahawks' only score came from an MU player. Setting up for a corner kick, the Saints defender's attempt to clear the ball proved costly as it eked past netminder William Brahmstedt at the 51:24 mark.

Brahmstedt and the Saints defense were solid despite the hiccup, allowing just seven shots while picking up a pair of saves.

Marymount returns to action on Saturday, October 23, at home against Lancaster Bible. The game will be the final home contest for seniors Nathan Blumenschein, Philippe Millogo, Meceal Getachew, Graham Sutherland and Brahmstedt.
