TYSONS, Va. - Marymount baseball had their opportunities, but came up on the short end against the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon in midweek action.
The Saints fall to 11-2 on the season, with plenty of strong baseball in their windshield.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Yellow Jackets scratched a trio of runs across in the first inning to put the Saints in a quick hole.
- Alec Reilly punched a single down the right field line in the bottom of the third, scoring Bobby Leitzel who singled earlier in the frame to put a dent into the lead.
- R-MC pushed across two more runs in the fourth and the sixth to extend their lead.
- Kevin Knoess knocked an RBI single through the six hole in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Reilly who singled earlier, to etch into the Yellow Jackets' lead.
- Sean Quinn, in a pinch hit opportunity, hit a sacrifice fly to push another run across, putting the score at 6-3.
- Strong pitching from the visitors sealed the deal, putting the Saints in the loss column for the second time this season.
- Andrew Schaeb went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
- Jordan Dickson went 2-2 after coming into the game in the middle part of the game.
- Knoess went 2-4 with an RBI.
- Ryan Cuadros, Jonathan McMath, Robert Moffett, and Leitzel each added a hit. Cuadros' hit was a double.
- Owen Mead, David Muirhead, and Braeden Lencz each had scoreless relief appearances, with Muirhead and Lencz each striking out a pair.
- The Saints outhit the Yellow Jackets 12-to-7.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will hit the road for their next matchup, traveling to Christopher Newport for a 3 PM game on Friday.
- They will be back at Capital One Park next Tuesday against CNU at 3 PM.
