Women's Lacrosse Earns Decisive Senior Day Victory

Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Marymount women's lacrosse team improved to 12-2 overall, 3-1 in Atlantic East play, on Saturday with a 24-9 decisive Senior Day victory over Neumann.

The Saints hopped on the board in the first minute of play with Sarah Agrillo recording an unassisted goal to take the early lead. After an answer from the Knights, Marymount took no time to retake the lead with a goal from Taylor Young.

Seven unanswered goals gave the Saints a comfortable advantage, leading 10-2 at the end of the first period, with Emily Peters totaling three in the final six minutes.

Agrillo found Kaleigh Dunham with an open look to kick off the second period, growing space between the two teams. A closer-contested second period throughout gave the Knights some life, but two free position goals in the final two minutes from Dunham pushed momentum back to Marymount's side to end the first half.

Offense slowed a bit in the third period, but the Saints kept the advantage throughout. Outscoring Neumann 4-1 in the period, with a last-minute goal from Megan Edens, Marymount headed into the final period of play with a comfortable lead of 20-7.

The fourth period spelled much the same, with the two teams battling back-and-forth.The Saints ultimately took the advantage in the fourth as well, outscoring Neumann 4-2, with the final goal coming from Riley Love to round out the scoring and pushing the contest to its final tally of 24-9.

Dunham led the scoring efforts for the Saints, finishing off the day with six goals on eight shots, all of them being on goal. Peters added five goals on 11 shots, adding six draw controls.

Agrillo maintained a strong day across the field, tallying a total of eight assists on top of her three goals. She added three ground balls in the contest.

Marymount will take a week of rest from gameplay, having their next matchup on the road on Saturday, Apr. 23 at Immaculata, looking to keep moving forward in conference play.
