RADNOR, Pa. – Marymount softball played two games in the Atlantic East Tournament First Round on Friday afternoon. The Saints fell to Cabrini 8-0 to start the day but responded with a strong 11-5 win over Immaculata to close out the day.

NOTABLE

• Cabrini held Marymount without a hit in the five-inning victory. 

• In the win over Immaculata, Kaylynn Johnson went 3-for-3 with five RBI while Shanyn Burch went 4-for-4 with four RBI.

• Both players registered two homers.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Saints were unable to match Cabrini's offense, as the Cyclones hit their first homer in the first inning and added seven more runs by the end of the fourth inning.

• Morgan Hunt took the loss for the Saints against Cabrini after she pitched 1.2 innings. 

• Shanyn Burch came on in relief and managed one strikeout against Cabrini.

• In game two, Immaculata registered two runs in the top of the first. The Saints responded with force with four runs in the bottom of the frame.

• Johnson and Shanyn Burch each added a homer which resulted in three of the runs.

• The Saints added two runs in the second inning with RBIs by Sara Emig and Shanyn Burch.

• Johnson hit another homer in the fourth inning and brought Emig and Jaclyn Burch back to home plate which gave the Blue and White a 9-5 lead.

• Shanyn Burch hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth which solidified the Saints lead, 11-5.

• Burch registered the win on the mound by pitching 7.0 innings with two strikeouts.

UP NEXT

•  The Saints will take on host Cabrini at 10 am tomorrow. 

• If Marymount wins that game, the two sides will play a winner-take-all game at noon to determine who advances to the Atlantic East championship next weekend.
