WASHINGTON, D.C. – Marymount University softball faced off against Catholic University in their last regular season doubleheader. The Saints split the twinbill with the Cardinals, they lost the first game 5-2 but took the second game 4-2.

• In game one, Sheila Kiernan registered the Saints only RBI, with a sacrifice fly that brought Kaylynn Johnson to home plate.
• Elizabeth Corcoran scored the Saints only other run in game one.
• Johnson was a standout for the Saints in game two with a homer and a double which resulted in two RBI for the sophomore.
• Sheila Kiernan and Abbie Potter each added an RBI of their own.

How It Happened

• A rough first inning for the Cardinals allowed the Saints to register their first run after two fielding errors by the Cardinals.
• The Cardinals responded with a run of their own after a single to left side.
• On the mound, Morgan Hunt fell to 8-11 for the year after she pitched six innings for the Saints.
• In game two, the game was scoreless until the fourth inning.
• At the top of the fourth Johnson hit a homer that brought Sara Emig to home base and registered the Saints first two points.
• Shanyn Burch made it to first after a single to left center, advanced on a wild pitch to second, and made it to third after a single by Kiernan.
• Abbi Potter registered an RBI after she grounded out but brought Burch home.
• The Cardinals added two runs of their own in the fifth inning with three hits.
• Doubles by Johnson and Kiernan brought Johnson around the bases to solidify the Saints lead.
• On the mound, Shanyn Burch pitched seven innings with one strikeout and added a win to bring her season record to 7-12..
