Softball Falls Twice at Shenandoah

WINCHESTER, Va. – Marymount softball struggled to generate offense on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-0 and 1-0 on the road against Shenandoah.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In game one, Shenandoah exploded for six first-inning runs and never looked back.
  • Samantha Cinotti had the only two hits for the Saints in game one.
  • A two-run homer in the sixth by Danielle McNeil clinched the 8-0 win for the Hornets.
  • In game two, Shenandoah scored the only run in the bottom of the fourth after Lily Richichi laced an RBI single to right field.
  • Marymount had its best scoring chance in the top of the fifth inning after Kaylynn Johnson hit a leadoff single to center.
  • After Johnson stole second, Jaclyn Burch put down a sacrifice bunt.
  • Burch reached on an error by the first baseman but Johnson was tagged out at home trying to be aggressive on the basepaths.

UP NEXT

  • Marymount concludes the regular season with a doubleheader against Catholic on Wednesday afternoon.
  • The Saints earned the No. 5 seed for the conference tournament which begins on Friday. MU will play Cabrini at 12 PM in game one of the pod before facing Immaculata in game two.
