CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Marymount softball dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader to Washington (Md.) on Wednesday afternoon.

NOTABLE

• Reigning Atlantic East Player of the Week Samantha Cinotti continued to impress from the leadoff spot, going 6-for-8 from the plate across both games with three doubles.
• Shanyn Burch went six innings in game two, allowing only two earned runs while striking out two batters.
• Marymount's five-game win streak was snapped with the loss to start the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Cinotti got Marymount on the board first in game one. She led off the game with a single, stole second, and then scored after a pair of throwing errors.
• Washington scored two runs in the bottom of the first but the Saints tied at the top of the second inning. Cinotti singled in Kaylynn Johnson to tie the game at 2-2.
• Washington put the game away with four runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth to finish the game with an 8-2 victory.
• In game two, Cinotti led off with a double before scoring on a throwing error.
• Marymount led heading into the bottom of the third, but Washington's offense exploded for five runs in the frame.
• The Saints finished game two with five errors on the day, which allowed Washington to record the 6-1 win despite being outhit by the Saints, 6-5.

UP NEXT

• The Saints return to conference action with a doubleheader against Marywood on Saturday afternoon.
• Marymount will then travel to Shenandoah on Sunday afternoon before closing the regular season against Catholic next Wednesday.
