Men's Track & Field Wins Seahawk Invitational

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- The Marymount University men's track & field team shined at the Seahawk Invitational at St. Mary's College (Md.) on Saturday as the Saints claimed the top spot at the event. 

Marymount finished first at the event with 171 points and six first-place finishes. Bowie State University finished second with 169 points, while St. Mary's finished third with 137 points. 

On the track, Ryan Brooks highlighted the Saints' efforts with a pair of first-place finishes in the hurdles. Brooks won the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.62 and the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.12. Mhyrlito Daniel followed Brooks in both events with second-place finishes and times of 16.09 and 59.89, respectively. Cole Valente finished third in both hurdles with times of 16.96 and 1:03.46.

In the 100m dash, the Saints placed three runners in teh top five. Kahil Easy finished third with a time of 11.46, while David Donawa clocked in with a time of 11.47 to finish fourth. Keyshawn Kindall earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 11.68. The Blue and White claimed the top spot in the 4x100m relay as well. Donawa, Kindall, Valente, and Malachi Williams combined for a time of 43.95. 

In the field events, the Saints shined in the jumps. Charles Walker finished first in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m. Krist Adofo added a third-place finish with a height of 1.55m. In the long jump, the Blue and White swept the top three spots. Marcone Pessoa led the way with a mark of 6.29m. Kahil Easy finished just behind Pessoa in second with a distance of 6.22m. Walker grabbed third with a mark of 5.99m. 

MU matched its feat from the long jump in the triple jump. Walker finished first with a jump of 12.53m, while Pessoa (11.36m) and Zamir Clifton (10.70m) finished second and third, respectively. Marymount's performance was rounded out by Sam Mercedes. The sophomore finished second in both the hammer throw (30.88m) and javelin throw (32.68m).

Marymount continues its season on Saturday, April 9, at the Bison Invitational on the campus of Gallaudet University.
