Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

IMMACULATA, Pa. – A four-run seventh inning in the second game of the doubleheader pushed Marymount University softball to a road split against Immaculata on Tuesday evening. The Saints took Game Two, 5-1, but dropped Game One, 4-3.

  • Kaylynn Johnson hit a double and a home run in the first game to provide some offensive highlights for the Saints.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After Samantha Cinotti led off game one with a double to left field, Corcoran brought her in with an RBI double into the left-center field gap to give Marymount an early lead.
  • Immaculata responded with a run in the bottom of the first and extended its lead to 4-1 on a home run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
  • Johnson's solo homer came in the sixth inning to push MU closer.
  • In the top of the seventh, the Saints put two runners in scoring position after an RBI double by Sara Emig cut the deficit to 4-3. But with two outs, Marymount was unable to score again, dropping the first game, 4-3.
  • To open the second game of the doubleheader, Corcoran hit an RBI single to left that brough Cinotti home for an early 1-0 lead.
  • Immaculata drew even in the bottom of the fourth after an errant throw to first brought home the tying run.
  • The game remained tied until the top of the seventh. Marymount played small ball, using walks and bunts to get the go-ahead runner in position.
  • With the bases loaded and one out, Morgan Hunt hit a pinch-hit sacrifice fly to bring home the eventual game-winning run.
  • Corcoran followed up with a three-run shot to left-center that gave the Saints a 5-1 lead.
  • Burch retired the side with ease in the bottom of the frame to clinch the win.
