ARLINGTON, Va. -- The Marymount University women's lacrosse team got off to a hot start on Wednesday evening, but the Saints fell just short against Susquehanna University, 16-15.

The Saints dominated the first quarter with seven goals, while they held the River Hawks to just three. Junior Kaleigh Dunham fired up MU's offense with an unassisted goal under two minutes into the game. Senior Emily Peters followed with her own unassisted goal, her first out of three for the quarter. The Saints ended the first period of action with a 10-7 edge in shots.

Susquehanna found its stride in the second quarter and carried that momentum into the final two frames. MU's defense stood strong, but the River Hawks managed to score four goals in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.

Peters led the Saints in goals with five. Sarah Agrillo and Riley Love each added three goals, while Dunham and Taylor Young each chipped in two markers. Junior Caitlyn Dunn led the Blue and White with two caused turnovers. Mariel Russ played 60 minutes in goal for the Saints and registered 12 saves, a career best for the senior.

The Saints play their first away game on Saturday, February 26, at 12 pm where they face off against  Virginia Wesleyan University.
