Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Marymount University Women's Soccer team was unable to overcome a possession-minded Stevenson University on Saturday evening, as the Saints fell to the Mustangs by a final score of 2-1.
Stevenson stifled the Saints' offense with a ball-dominant approach that resulted in 20 shots for the home team. Nine shots made their way on target for the Mustangs, while Stevenson also earned six corner kicks.
In the face of Stevenson's onslaught, Marymount goalkeeper Mary Mac Bradshaw and the Saints' defensive unit stood tall and held the Mustangs in check for a majority of the contest. In net, Bradshaw finished with seven saves in 90 minutes of action. The sophomore's save total marked a new career-high.
The Mustangs scored the opening goal a little over three minutes into the contest, but the Saints buckled down and fended off Stevenson for the remainder of the first half.
MU got on the board in the 52nd minute, as a cross into the box was misplayed by the Mustangs and sent into their own net. Marymount was unable to capitalize on the miscue, however, as Stevenson managed to nab the game's final goal in the 83rd minute.
Marymount remains on the road for its next contest on Wednesday, September 29, when it visits Widener University for a 7:00 p.m. showdown.
