Arlington, Va. -- The Marymount University women's lacrosse team's offense was firing on all cylinders on Friday evening, as the Saints earned a resounding 21-2 victory over Virginia Wesleyan University at Longbridge Park.
Nine different players found the back of the net for MU, highlighted by the trio of Shea Smith, Kaleigh Dunham, and Sarah Agrillo, who all tallied four goals. Smith and Dunham both matched her career-high in goals. Agrillo also paced the Saints in total points, as the junior added two assists to end the night with six points.
In cage, junior Mariel Russ earned the start for the first time in her career. The Fairfax, Virginia native registered three saves to pick up the victory.
The Saints wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Agrillo started the scoring just 1:55 into the contest. Peters added MU's second tally a little over a minute later and opened the floodgates, as Marymount poured in 10 more goals across the opening frame. The Blue and White continued to dominate control of the ball in the second half, which led to nine goals, four of which came off free-position chances.
Marymount returns to action on Wednesday, March 10, when the Saints welcome non-league foe Randolph-Macon to Longbridge Park. The contest is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
