Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Marymount University women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in Atlantic East Conference play on Wednesday afternoon with a 19-10 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University.
The Saints needed little time to take control in the game, scoring six goals in the first 15 minutes for a 6-0 lead. Sophomores Riley Love and Kaleigh Dunham each tallied two scores in the opening run.
In all, Marymount opened the game with 10 unanswered goals, with junior Sarah Agrillo putting away four to lead the team in the first half.
Senior Shea Smith added two goals in the frame, as well, and after scores from junior Emily Peters and sophomore Megan Edens, Marymount took a 12-2 lead into halftime.
At the break, the Saints held a 27-13 advantage in shots, while leading in ground balls, 6-4, and draw controls, 8-6. They converted on eight-of-nine clearing attempts, as well.
The Saints maintained full control with seven more goals in the second half, with Love and junior Taylor Young starting the half with a score, each. With the goals, the Saints' lead was pushed to its largest of the game at 12, 14-2.
Agrillo netted two more goals in the half, as she led the team with a game-high six; she set a career-high with the total.
Young added another tally in the half, along with scores from Dunham and Peters.
Dunham and Love finished the game with a hat trick, each, while Love tacked on three assists to tie Agrillo for a game-high six points.
Junior Mariel Russ earned the win in goal, making three saves in 60 minutes of play.
Marymount will return to action on Wednesday, April 7 to host Cabrini University at Long Bridge Park. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
