Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. -- A huge second-half made all the difference for the Marymount University men's basketball team on Wednesday evening, as the Saints picked up a definitive 85-66 win over Shenandoah University.
While the Hornets managed to edge the Saints, 39-37 in the first half, the Blue and White came out firing to open the second frame. Marymount opened the second half on a 9-0 run, which resulted in a 46-39 advantage. Four different Saints scored during the run, which was punctuated by a 3-pointer from Wyatt Hockenberry.
Shenandoah battled back and pulled within two at 48-46 with 13:45 on the clock. Zamir Clifton halted the Hornets' run with a make from beyond the arc. After some more back and forth, Marcus Stubbs kickstarted another nine-point run with a 3-pointer off a feed from Clifton. The Blue and White cruised from there, as a late free throw from Jack Bifano gave the game its final scoreline.
Five Saints registered double-digit point totals, headlined by Xavier Reaves. The senior finished with a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. His two-way play was highlighted by a team-best seven assists and four steals. Stubbs and Clifton recorded 14 and 13 points respectively. Clifton finished the contest a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor, while Stubbs poured in four makes from beyond the arc.
Montell Cooper and Hockenberry rounded out the Blue and White's double-figure scorers with 10 points apiece. Cooper finished with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The Saints remain at home for their next contest on Saturday, December 11, when they host Dickinson College at 3:00 p.m.
