ARLINGTON, Va. - An 18-point first half opened up the score early for the Marymount University women's lacrosse team in its 22-11 victory over Gwynedd Mercy University on Saturday afternoon at Long Bridge Park, pushing the Saints through the Atlantic East Conference first round and into the semifinals.

The Saints opened up the game with a 5-0 run and never looked back, with two of those goals coming from the stick of senior Jessica Crew. Crew finished the first half with eight goals and an assist, totaling nine points for the day. 

Later in the first half at the 9:33 mark, senior Kelly Campbell went unassisted on her first of two goals for the day, eclipsing the 100-goal mark for her career.

Seven different Saints found the back of the net in the game, including four by juniors Bridgette Stacom and Eliana Cassel, while Stacom added two assists for six points. Cassell contributed four draw controls and a tied game-high three caused turnovers with teammate sophomore Caroline Wolford.

In the net, senior Holly Reik made six saves through 31 minutes of play for her 12th win of the season, while junior Meagan Gagnon and freshman Mariel Russ combined for three more saves.

The Saints advance to the semifinals on Wednesday, May 1, traveling to second-seeded Cabrini University. Time will be announced.
