Box Score ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Marymount (Va.) University men's basketball team suffered a tough loss to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference matchup, 85-63.
The Saints' efforts were led by junior Dimitri Rucker and senior Michael Anderson who each notched 14 points for the game, followed by freshman Ibrahim Kamara who garnered 12 points of his own. Although the Saints led by three points going into the half, the Seahawks came out strong in the second half.
A back and forth battle in the first half had Marymount leading by as much as seven following two free throws by freshman Josh Giardina. The Seahawks kept it close, but with 15 seconds remaining before the break, freshman LaDarius McCord made his way inside for the lay-in to give Marymount a 37-34 advantage to take to the locker room.
The second half remained close as well until roughly the 13-minute mark when St. Mary's found some offensive consistency to eventually seal up the decision.
The Saints will look to bounce back next Wednesday, February 1 when they travel to Southern Virginia University for another league tilt. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
