Late in the second half, freshman Taiga Walker fed sophomore Brandon Rogers who hit a crucial three in the left corner to put the Saints ahead by three with just one minute left in regulation. However, PSU's Jazmon Walker tied the game with a three of his own from the right corner with 11 seconds left on the clock on a drawn-up inbounds play, forcing the game into overtime.
Penn State took an early lead in overtime, but the Saints found themselves within striking distance as time was winding down. With just under a minute left in overtime, Rogers stepped up to knock down two free throws. In the closing seconds on the defensive end, a blocked shot by Rogers on a drive down the paint by the Lions was picked up by Walker and ended up in the hands of Anderson to set up the Saints' final effort. On the ensuing inbounds play, the ball ultimately found Rogers who went up for the go-ahead shot at the rim and was fouled by Kahlil Williams. Rogers, at the line, came up in the clutch going two-for-two to seal up the 78-76 victory.
Anderson intercepted Penn State's following inbounds pass, subsequently ending the game and sealing the Saints' hard-earned win.
Anderson led the way recording 21 points, followed by valiant efforts by junior Dimitri Rucker, Rogers and Danko who each added double-digit points. Anderson, along with Ibrahim Kamara, also led the team in rebounds with five apiece.
The men will have a rematch against No. 17 Salisbury University in a CAC battle at home this Saturday, January 21 at 3 p.m., in the Verizon Sports Arena.
