Box Score SALISBURY, Md. – Going on the road for the first time since September 13, the Marymount (Va.) University women's soccer team traveled to Salisbury University on Tuesday afternoon for a Capital Athletic Conference matchup with the Sea Gulls, dropping a 4-0 decision.
The first half was a tough start for the Saints (4-6, 0-2 CAC), seeing Salisbury record its four goals for the game and holding MU to no shots. But, the second half showed some life out of the blue and white, keeping the Gulls (8-2, 2-0 CAC) off the board through the final 45 minutes and firing away three shots of its own.
In the 71st minute, senior Erin Harris earned the first opportunities for the Saints, getting off two shots. The first shot was blocked by the defense making its way back to Harris for another, but that attempt flew wide.
In the closing minutes, Marymount landed one on target off the foot of senior Lexi Swartz. Blasting the shot in the 88th minute, Salisbury goalkeeper Ellen Anderson pulled in the attempt to keep the score at 4-0.
Junior Joanna Chenaille tended the net for the Saints through the first 45, turning away four shots, while freshman Carolina Saavedra swapped in for the second half and pulled in two herself.
The women will remain on the road for their next match, traveling to Dover, Delaware for another conference battle. The Saints will take on Wesley College on Saturday, October 3, with the first touch set for 7 p.m.
