Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. – The Marymount (Va.) University women's soccer team continued game two of a three-game home stand at Long Bridge Park on a warm and sunny first day of fall on Wednesday afternoon against Gallaudet University, collecting a 3-0 shutout.
The Saints had no trouble finding opportunities to shoot, firing 37 shots for the game. Three of those 37 shots found their way past Bison goalkeeper Jennifer Livengood, who was under constant pressure from the Marymount attack all game long.
Each of the three goals scored in the game were by a different Saints player. Of the goal scorers, junior Chloe McAuliffe had seven attempts and connected on a late goal; all four shots junior Kirsten Campbell shot were on target with one finding the back of the net; and sophomore Sarah Lloyd took only one shot but made it count, scoring her first goal of the season before halftime.
The scoring started early for the home team, when freshman Brooke Hillenbrand crossed a ball to Campbell, who quickly put it past Livengood in the seventh minute of play.
Play continued without any change on the scoreboard until the 34th minute when Lloyd dribbled up the right side of the field and launched a high ball from 25-yards out that sailed right over the outstretched arms of Livengood. That goal capped the scoring for the first half for the Saints to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Marymount used a three-goalkeeper system this match with senior Erin Harris making her eighth start of the season. She was moved to midfielder in the 20th minute, and junior Joanna Chenaille stepped in to finish out the half in the goal. During her time in goal, Harris did not see any action from the Bison. Chenaille saw only one shot, which she took care of by clearing it out of the box. Freshman Carolina Saavedra took over the goalkeeping responsibilities in the second half, seeing one shot on goal and having no issue pulling it in. Harris recorded the victory in net, while Chenaille and Saavedra helped collect the team's second shutout of the season.
The second half was hard fought from both ends, but only one ball found the net. In the 83rd minute after corralling a turnover from Gallaudet, Harris tapped a short pass to McAuliffe who blasted it past a diving Livengood into the back-left part of the net for her fourth goal on the season.
Although there were no scores from Harris, she was all over the place on offense with an assist and a game-high eight shots.
Your Saints improve to 4-4 for the season, while the Bison fall to 2-6.
Marymount starts Capital Athletic Conference play on Saturday, September 26, as it welcomes York College of Pennsylvania to Arlington, Virginia for homecoming weekend. First touch is set for 5 p.m.
