Box Score Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team closed out its season in the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region Semifinals with an 81-75 loss at Stevenson on Saturday. The Saints finish the season 16-12 overall.
Danny Ferry led the Saints with a game-high 17 points while Jesse Konadu also added 15. Reed Scott and Antonio Rouse chipped in 12 points apiece, with Scott also posting 13 rebounds for a double-double.
Marymount took the early lead and held its host scoreless through the first 5:31 of the game. In an opening frame that saw four lead changes in fewer than five minutes, Stevenson would eventually battle back to take the lead at 13-11. With 8:14 to play, the Mustangs overtook the Saints for good – closing out the half with an 18-7 run and a 37-25 lead.
Coming out of the break, Stevenson picked up right where it left off – up by as much as 19 points only five minutes into the second half. The Saints were not to be outdone easily, however, and proceeded to chip away at the Mustang lead little by little. Marymount worked its way all the way back to a minuscule four-point deficit, down 72-68 with just under five to play. The remaining ticks saw the Saints continue to battle, but the Stevenson lead ultimately proved insurmountable.
Darius Walker posted a double-double for Stevenson, posting 14 points and 12 rebounds in the Mustang win.
