Box Score Arlington, Va. – Under an overwhelmingly ominous October sky, Marymount University's women's soccer team took to the puddle-pocked turf for a CAC clash against visiting Salisbury on Wednesday afternoon. The Seagulls used the rain-soaked first half to punch in their pair, securing the 2-0 lead early and not once looking back. The Saints fall to 1-11-1 on the year and 0-5 in conference action.
Marymount keeper Holly Wenger collected eight saves in her soggy day between the pipes, though Salisbury striker Logan O'Meara proved the netminder's ultimate undoing.
O'Meara proved a stealth finisher for the Seagulls, sneaking into the box constantly to steal rebounds and deflections. She used teammate Samantha Beck's rebound to put away the game's first tally – securing the 1-0 advantage for Salisbury at just the 12:49 mark.
Roughly ten minutes later in the 21st minute, O'Meara used a deflected shot to set up her second strike of the day, swiping the ball from a Marymount defender before pouring it in just past Wenger.
The second half proved a bit of a dry spell under the Long Bridge lights – in terms of both rain and offensive attacks. Even with the relentless downpour finally moving out, neither squad could find the same consistency or urgency as seen in the opening frame. Threats came and went, few and far between, over the contest's final 45 minutes.
Marymount returns to action on Saturday as it travels to Christopher Newport for another CAC showdown. First touch is slated for 1 p.m.
