Reed Scott Scores 1,000th Career Point as Men's Hoops Ties Best Start in Program History

Box Score

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's men's basketball team picked up an 81-67 non-conference victory over former Capital Athletic Conference foe Goucher on Sunday afternoon.  Senior forward Reed Scott scored his 1,000th career point in the win as the Saints improve to 5-1 overall on the season heading into the start of CAC play this week.

Scott surpassed the career milestone with just over a minute left to play, collecting his own missed shot and laying up what would be his 1,001st point on his final attempt of the day.  He becomes the 13th player in program history with at least 1,000 points and is on pace to finish 5th all-time in points scored with the Saints.

Marymount's 5-1 record is tied for the best start to a season in program history, equaling the mark set in the 2007-08 campaign.  The Saints have also eclipsed 80 points in each of their last three games, a feat they haven't achieved since the end of the 2006-07 season.

Four Saints posted double-figure scoring to lead the Blue and White to victory.  Reed and JC Hoellich led the way with 18 each while Antonio Rouse added 14 and Colin Burkhart chipped in 11.

Hoellich also posted his second double-double of the season with 11 rebounds to tie for the game-high and collected three blocked shots.  Patrick Dumais added eight rebounds off the bench while Scott hauled in seven.

Rouse and Jesse Konadu paced the offense with four assists each.

Alex Noble led Goucher (2-3) with 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.

Marymount returns to the hardwood on Wednesday as it hosts Wesley in the CAC opener.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. and fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.marymount.edu/athletics/mBasketball and selecting the "live stats" and "live video" links.
