WESTMINSTER, Md. -- Marymount women's volleyball split the day at McDaniel on Saturday, taking down the hosting Green Terror in three sets after losing a heartbreaker to Stevenson earlier in the day.

STEVENSON 3 - MARYMOUNT 2

Marymount lost to Stevenson 3-2 in their first match of the day, falling 25-21, 26-24, 19-25, 23-25, 15-3.

The Saints won the third set and rallied from 20-22 to take the fourth 25-23, but Stevenson closed the match in the fifth. Achieving a season-high 54 kills in the game, they also maintained a streak of eight consecutive games with at least 58 digs. Additionally, Marymount reached the 500 digs milestone, totaling 515 digs, with 58 in the game.

The Saints answered the opening point with an Angela McKenzie kill, a Stevenson attack error and a Donahue kill to move in front 3-1, but Rachel Lenz's kill and service ace brought Stevenson even at 3-3. The teams traded points through the middle of the set, with the Saints getting kills from Sabrina Schoeberlein, Donahue and Eliana Knaub before Knaub's kill made it 13-12. Stevenson answered with a block by Lillianna Hornickle and Maren Zepfel, an Autumn Henry kill and a Saints setting error to go ahead 15-13, then later moved to 21-17 after kills by Hornickle, Sydney Salazar and Lenz following Ava Humphries' ace. The Saints cut the deficit to 23-21 on back-to-back Donahue kills, but a Logan Burge kill and a Lenz ace closed the set for Stevenson, 25-21.

The Saints shook off an early 3-1 deficit in the second set, getting kills from Knaub and Elizabeth Stackpole, a Braelyn Ottolini ace and a Stevenson attack error to move in front 6-4. Stevenson answered with a four-point push for an 8-6 lead, but the Saints later turned a 10-11 deficit into a 15-12 edge behind a Donahue kill, a Knaub kill, a Renae Rohrer ace and a block by Schoeberlein and Stackpole. The teams traded points through 21-21 before Stevenson used a Rachel Lenz kill and back-to-back Declyn Tooze aces to go up 23-21. The Saints responded with a Stevenson error and consecutive Knaub kills to move ahead 24-23, but Stevenson scored the final three points, closing the set 26-24 on a Logan Burge kill and a Lenz ace.

The Saints trailed 4-1 in the third set before Knaub's kill and back-to-back Caylee Walsh aces helped produce a 7-of-8 stretch that put them ahead 8-5. Stevenson stayed close and pulled within 12-11 on a Declyn Tooze ace, but Knaub answered with a kill and Walsh served the next five points as the Saints stretched the lead to 18-11. After Stevenson briefly cut into the margin, the Saints moved back in front by seven and reached set point at 24-15 on a Stevenson attack error. Stevenson scored four straight, including two Laila Frye service aces, before Ottolini's kill from Layla Scott closed the set at 25-19.

The Saints broke from a 9-9 tie with a Knaub kill, a Rohrer ace and a Stevenson attack error, later moving in front 16-12 after a Scott kill and a Stevenson bad set. Stevenson answered with four straight points to tie the set at 16-16, and after the teams traded points to 18-18, a Rachel Lenz ace, an Autumn Henry kill and a Stevenson block put Stevenson ahead 21-18. The Saints trailed 22-19 before a Schoeberlein kill, a Stackpole kill and a Knaub ace tied the set at 22-22, though Lillianna Hornickle's kill gave Stevenson a 23-22 edge. Stackpole answered with a kill, Donahue put the Saints at set point, and a Stevenson bad set finished the Saints' 25-23 set win. Schoeberlein recorded a season-high of 10.5 points during the match.

Knaub gave the Saints the first point of the fifth set with a kill from Rohrer, but Stevenson answered with kills by Sydney Salazar and Rachel Lenz to move in front 3-1. After a Stevenson service error and a second Knaub kill got the Saints points at 3-2 and 7-3, Stevenson kept the set moving its way with kills by Lenz and Salazar, an Isabella Terra ace and Saints attack errors. Stevenson closed with eight straight points from 7-3, including three Declyn Tooze service aces and two Maren Zepfel kills, to take the set 15-3.

MARYMOUNT 3 - MCDANIEL 0

Marymount defeated McDaniel 3-0 (25-16, 25-10, 25-18) on Saturday at Gill Center. The Saints hit .295 with 41 kills while holding McDaniel to 19 kills and a -.022 hitting percentage. Marymount achieved a season-high hitting percentage of .295 in the game.

Emerson Aber opened the first set with a service ace, and after McDaniel moved in front 3-2, the Saints used a service error, a McDaniel attack error and a bad set to go ahead 5-3. After McDaniel got back within 5-4, the Saints pushed the lead to 11-7, then scored eight straight points behind McKenzie's kill and an Aber service run that included an ace, kills from Brigid Donahue, McKenzie and Eliana Knaub, and two McDaniel attack errors for a 19-7 advantage. The Saints reached set point on Elizabeth Stackpole's kill at 24-11, and after McDaniel scored the next five points, Alexis Bumah closed the set with a kill for a 25-16 win.

In the second set, the Saints built an early cushion, scoring the first three points on kills by Aber, Schoeberlein and Knaub before moving ahead 10-2 behind three McDaniel attack errors during Braelyn Ottolini's serve. After a McDaniel service error made it 11-3, Renae Rohrer served through four straight Saints points, with Stackpole contributing two kills and Donahue adding another for a 15-3 lead. McDaniel cut the deficit to 18-8 with Sydney Turner serving for two aces in a three-point stretch, but the Saints answered with a kill by Bumah and a block by McKenzie and Knaub to reach 21-8. The Saints closed the set from 21-10 with a McDaniel service error, consecutive Schoeberlein kills and McKenzie-Knaub block for a 25-10 win.

McDaniel moved in front 3-0 in the third set before the Saints put together eight straight points, with Caylee Walsh serving the final seven as McKenzie had two kills and joined Knaub on a block during the surge to an 8-3 lead. McDaniel cut the margin to 9-7 behind Annika Cortez's kill and ace, but the Saints answered with kills by Schoeberlein, Ottolini and Bumah to move back ahead 13-7. The Saints kept separation through the middle of the set, reaching 18-12 on a block by McKenzie and Schoeberlein and later 22-15 after Bumah's kill and a block by Stackpole and Bumah. After McDaniel pulled within 23-18, Ottolini put down a kill for set point, and the Saints closed the set 25-18 on a McDaniel attack error.

Marymount achieved at least 51 digs for the ninth consecutive game.
