ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount women's volleyball opened up home action on Saturday, hosting Ramapo College and Shenandoah University in tri-match fashion.

Taking both games, the Saints improve to 4-2 in the early going of the season.

The Saints built a 3-0 lead in the opening set on an Elizabeth Stackpole kill, an Ava Humphries service ace and a Ramapo attack error. Ramapo erased it at 3-3, and after a service error put the Saints back in front 4-3, Ramapo scored the next five points behind kills from Asya Akar and Cass Chauhan and a Sydney Tramontana ace to move ahead 8-4. Brigid Donahue and Eliana Knaub helped the Saints trim the margin to 8-6, but Ramapo continued to separate, reaching 17-9 after a Scarlett Melick-Jasmine Rolle block and an Emily Tepale ace before Rolle's three kills helped extend the lead to 20-10. The Saints later put together points from an Angela McKenzie kill, an Emerson Aber ace and a Ramapo attack error to get to 22-14, but Ramapo closed the set 25-15 on an Akar service ace.

Trailing 7-4 in the second set, Aber's kill put the Saints back on serve, and Kate Craver followed with seven straight service points that included three aces and a Donahue kill to move the Saints ahead 12-7. Ramapo cut into the margin after the Saints led 16-9, using a service ace, two kills and a Saints error to get within 16-13. The Saints later held a 21-18 lead after Donahue's kill, but Ramapo scored the next four points to go in front 22-21 before Donahue tied it and McKenzie put the Saints back ahead. The set went past 25 with Ramapo moving in front at 25-24 and 26-25, but the Saints answered each time, and Knaub's ace followed by a block from Aber and Stackpole finished the 28-26 set win.

The Saints moved ahead 5-3 early in the third set on a Knaub and Stackpole block and a Sabrina Schoeberlein kill, but Ramapo answered to go back in front before the teams traded points to a 10-10 tie. Ramapo scored the next two points for a 12-10 lead, and the Saints responded with a Knaub kill, two Ramapo attack errors, a McKenzie kill and a Renae Rohrer service ace to move ahead 15-13. After Ramapo stayed within 18-16, the Saints took four straight points on Ramapo attack errors to build a 22-16 lead, then closed the set with McKenzie kills for the 23rd and 24th points before Aber finished the 25-19 win.

After Ramapo moved ahead 2-1 on Valentina Palen's kill, the Saints answered with Knaub's kill, Rohrer's ace and kills by Schoeberlein and Knaub to move in front 5-2 before a Ramapo setting error made it 6-3. The Saints pushed the margin to 10-5 on a Stackpole kill and a Ramapo attack error, but Ramapo cut it to 12-10 with a Cass Chauhan kill and blocks involving Sydney Tramontana, Jasmine Rolle and Chauhan. McKenzie's kill, a block by Knaub and McKenzie and Caylee Walsh's ace gave the Saints a 15-10 lead, and after Jasmine Rolle's consecutive aces brought Ramapo within 16-14, Knaub and Schoeberlein scored around another Knaub ace for a 19-14 advantage. The Saints stayed ahead through the finish, getting late kills from Stackpole, Donahue and McKenzie before Aber's service ace closed the set 25-17.

The Saints traded points with Shenandoah early, getting kills from Eliana Knaub, Brigid Donahue, and Emerson Aber before a service error left Shenandoah ahead 12-11. The Saints moved in front with the next four points, tying the set on a Shenandoah service error, taking a 13-12 lead on Ashlynn Spence's attack error, and stretching it to 15-12 after Knaub's ace and another Spence error. Shenandoah pulled even at 15-15 and later led 18-16, but the Saints tied it at 18-18 on a Riley Link attack error and Kate Craver service ace, and the teams continued trading points until Shenandoah held a 23-22 edge. From there, the Saints scored four of the final five points, tying it on Amanda Schaffer's bad set, reaching set point at 24-23 on Amber Shifflett's attack error, and after Hannah Hylton tied it with a kill, going back ahead on a Shifflett service error and taking the set 26-24 on a Spence attack error.

Shenandoah scored seven of the first eight points, including an Amanda Schaffer ace, before the Saints cut the deficit to 7-5 on kills by Elizabeth Stackpole and Knaub and a Renae Rohrer ace. After Shenandoah moved back ahead 9-5, the Saints scored seven straight points, getting three kills from Sabrina Schoeberlein and two from Stackpole during the run to take a 12-9 lead. Shenandoah came back from a 15-12 deficit with four straight points and later led 21-17, but the Saints used two Knaub kills and two Shenandoah errors to tie the set at 21-21. The teams traded points to 24-24 before a Shenandoah service error and a block by Angela McKenzie and Aber gave the Saints the final two points and a 26-24 set win.

The Saints built a 10-4 lead in the third set, getting early kills from Schoeberlein, Knaub, and Donahue and a block by Aber and Stackpole. Shenandoah pulled within 14-12 during Hannah Hylton's serve, but Knaub's kill put the Saints ahead 15-12, and Caylee Walsh served four straight points, including an ace and another Knaub kill, to make it 19-12. Shenandoah cut it to 20-16 on a block by Riley Link and Kadence Zollman, but the Saints answered with a Stackpole-Schoeberlein block and later reached set point at 24-17 on a Stackpole kill and an Aber-Stackpole block. After Hylton kept Shenandoah alive with a kill, Donahue finished the set with a kill from Aber for a 25-18 Saints win.
