BASE: MU Secures Spot in Championship with Lopsided Postseason Win

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. — Marymount secured a decisive 25–6 victory over Marywood on Friday in their second game of the Atlantic East Conference Tournament.

The Saints tallied seven home runs and totaled 22 hits in the commanding win, earning a spot in Championship Saturday against the hosting Cyclones of Centenary University.

The Saints secured a commanding victory over Marywood with a final score of 25–6. Marywood initially took the lead in the first inning when Evan Bruder scored on a groundout, giving Marywood a 1–0 lead.

In the second inning, the Saints responded with a surge of five runs. Ryan Cuadros tripled and scored on a single by Ellenburg. Joshmar Carbonell's single brought in another run, followed by Via's inside-the-park home run, which cleared the bases for three more runs. The Saints led 5–2 by the end of the inning.

The third inning saw the Saints extend their lead to 7–2 with a two-run homer by Farmakides after Schick doubled to left center.

The Saints continued their offensive momentum in the fourth inning with another five-run effort. Ellenburg hit a solo home run, and Schick added a two-run homer. Farmakides contributed with an RBI double, making it 12–2.

Marywood managed to add one run in the fifth inning, but the Saints held a 12–3 lead.

The sixth inning was pivotal for the Saints as they tallied eight runs. A series of hits, including a three-RBI double from Swekosky, extended the lead to 20–4.

In the seventh inning, the Saints added three more runs. Farmakides hit his second homer of the game, a two-run shot, while Via drove in another run with a single, bringing the score to 23–5.

The Saints added two more runs in the eighth inning with solo homers from Swekosky and William Alvarez, extending the lead to 25–5.

Marywood scored one final run in the ninth inning, but the Saints secured the decisive 25–6 victory.

  • The Saints will look to win their second-straight AEC Title tomorrow, taking on Centenary at 11 AM with the trophy on the line.
