BASE: Saints Take Down Mustangs in Non-Conference Play

TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount (Va.) (23-15, 11-7) secured a decisive 12-2 victory over Stevenson (18-18, 8-13) on Wednesday night at Capital One Park. The game ended in the bottom of the seventh due to the mercy rule, after the Saints scored five runs in both the sixth and eighth innings.

The Saints secured a dominant 12-2 victory over Stevenson. In the second inning, Evan Schick singled up the middle, and Ryan Cuadros walked to advance Schick. Seth Sadler then singled to right center, bringing Schick home for the first run. The Saints led 1-0 after two innings.

In the third, Quincy Via's aggressive baserunning proved crucial. After singling and stealing two bases, Via scored on Francis Swekosky's groundout. The Saints extended their lead to 2-0 through three innings.

Stevenson tied the game in the fifth inning, scoring two runs on a combination of singles and fielding errors. The game was even at 2-2 after five innings.

The Saints broke the tie in the sixth inning. Tyler Woodring singled to score Gray Ellenburg, while Swekosky and Schick each added RBI, with Schick's double bringing home two more runs. Cuadros completed the five-run inning with a sacrifice fly. The Saints led 7-2 through six innings.

In the eighth inning, the Saints sealed their victory. The inning began with Woodring scoring, followed by a two-RBI single from William Alvarez. Sadler added another RBI single, and a wild pitch allowed Alvarez to score the final run of the game. The Saints concluded the game with a 12-2 victory.

  • The Saints will head to Catholic on Saturday for another non-conference match up as they prepare for the upcoming Atlantic East Tournament.
