ARLINGTON, Va. — Marymount celebrated Senior Day in dominant fashion at Long Bridge Park, honoring Ian Fructuoso, Jacob Brooks, Ben Cooper, and James Elko before cruising past Marywood, 11-5, to secure a spot in the Atlantic East Conference Championship. With the win, the Saints improved to 4-0 in conference play and will host Immaculata on Saturday with the title on the line.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marymount wasted no time setting the tone, exploding for six goals in the opening quarter to take full control early. Santino Rossitto led the charge, while contributions from Wyatt Labonte, Matthew Kurczeski, Ian Fructuoso, and James Elko helped the Saints jump out to a commanding 6-0 lead. The Saints kept their foot on the gas in the second, adding three more goals, including a man-up finish from Rossitto, to carry a 9-0 advantage into halftime.
Marywood showed life in the third quarter with three quick goals, but Marymount responded with two more from Rossitto to maintain a comfortable lead at 11-3. The Saints' defense handled the final frame, allowing just two goals while closing out the 11-5 victory.Â
