ARLINGTON, Va. — Marymount men's lacrosse capped off an unbeaten conference slate on Wednesday with a 10–5 victory over Gwynedd Mercy at Long Bridge Park. The Saints move to 7-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in Atlantic East play, securing the top seed and home-field advantage for the conference tournament.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marymount struck first behind Ian Fructuoso, but Gwynedd Mercy answered with two quick goals to take an early 2-1 lead after the first quarter.
The Saints flipped the momentum in the second, using a late scoring burst to take a 4-2 advantage into halftime. From there, Marymount took full control in the third quarter, exploding for six goals. Fructuoso and Santino Rossitto led the charge as the Saints built a commanding lead, outpacing the Griffins on both ends of the field.
Despite being held scoreless in the fourth, the Saints' defensive effort and earlier offensive surge proved more than enough, closing out the 10–5 win and locking up the conference's top spot.Â
