SOFT: Team Sweeps on Senior Day

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount University women's softball team stayed at home this sunny Saturday for their senior day match. The double header against conference opponent, Centenary, ended with two wins under the Saints belt. 

 MARYMOUNT 5 CENTENARY 0

  • Gracie Himmelman delivered the biggest offensive spark, ripping an RBI double to left-center to bring in the games lone run, later adding a triple and showing aggressiveness on the bases with a stolen base
  • Tara Corcoran set the tone by working a walk and coming around to score, while also contributing defensively with a putout at third base
  • Kaylee Atkins provided a key extra-base hit with a double down the left field line to put pressure on the defense
  • Samantha Papp showed patience at the plate with a walk and added a solid defensive play in right field
  • Haylee Carpenter was active on both sides, recording a putout at second base and reaching base on a fielders choice while helping control the infield
  • Haley Greer contributed defensively behind the plate and helped manage the pitching staff, while also making a play in the field earlier in the game
  • Samantha Richtol drew a walk and helped advance runners, staying disciplined in key at-bats
  • Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira put the ball in play and contributed defensively with assists from the middle infield
  • Mady Archer and Ashleigh Mannion combined efforts in the lineup spot, with Archer adding defensive value in center field and Mannion stepping in as a pinch hitter
  • Bailey Demusz was dominant in the circle, tossing multiple scoreless innings while limiting hits, striking out batters, and inducing consistent weak contact to keep Centenary off the board
  • Overall, Marymounts pitching and timely extra-base hitting highlighted by Himmelman powered a strong, controlled performance throughout the game.

MARYMOUNT 15 CENTENARY 1

  • Gracie Himmelman led the charge at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, consistently setting the tone offensively
  • Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira delivered a big performance, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs and a team-high three RBIs to anchor the middle of the order
  • Grace Gilbert stayed hot at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 while driving in two runs and scoring once
  • Haley Greer contributed across the board, scoring twice and knocking in two RBIs to keep the pressure on
  • Kaylee Atkins added a multi-hit effort (2-for-3) and chipped in an RBI to support the offense
  • Haylee Carpenter made her hits count, going 1-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI
  • Ady Lease was efficient in limited action, recording a hit and scoring a run
  • In the circle, Morgan Maslock put together a strong outing, tossing 4.0 innings while allowing just one run on three hits and striking out five to earn the win
  • Emma McCormack closed things out cleanly, throwing a scoreless inning without allowing a hit to secure the finish 
  • Senior Bailey Demusz stepped up to bat and was walked. 

UP NEXT:

  • The Saints play again on Tuesday against Hood College on the road. 
  • The double header is scheduled to start at 3:00.
