SCRANTON, Pa. — Marymount closed out a dominant conference game with an 11-6 win over Marywood on Saturday, improving to 3-0 in Atlantic East play behind a balanced offensive effort and a decisive third-quarter surge.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marymount fell behind early after Marywood opened the scoring, but quickly responded to take control. James Elko sparked the offense with two early goals, helping the Saints flip a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead by the end of the first quarter. The momentum carried into the second, though Marywood briefly tied the game at 3-3. From there, the Saints went on another run, with goals from Ian Fructuoso, James Doss, and Santino Rossitto to reclaim control and head into halftime up 6-3. Out of the break, Marymount put the game away. Rossitto completed his hat trick in the third quarter, while a man-up goal from Braden Miller extended the lead to 9-3 as the Saints shut out Marywood in the frame. Marywood made a late push in the fourth, but Marymount answered with insurance goals from Elko and Fructuoso to seal the 11-6 victory.
