DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Marymount baseball opened up their annual stint at the RussMatt Invitational on Sunday, taking on Loras College in doubleheader action.
The Saints record moves to 5-4 on the season.
LORAS 11 - MARYMOUNT 2
- Anthony Farmakides went 2-for-3 in the loss, alongside teammate Evan Schick who picked up a pair of knocks to lead the Saints at the plate.
- Francis Swekosky knocked an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh as Marymount threatened to mount the steep comeback.
- Cole Shabosky had an RBI single in the affair.
- Kyle Smith tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief with a pair of strikeouts.
LORAS 7 - MARYMOUNT 6
- MU went ahead in the opening frame, scoring a quick five runs highlighted by a two-run double from Farmakides and an RBI knock off the bat of Swekosky.
- Loras pushed across a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to cut into the lead, but Marymount answered with an RBI single from Farmakides in the top of the second to take a run back.
- The Saints' bats went quiet through the rest of the match up, and Loras didn't quit, as they would walk off MU in the bottom of the eighth inning.
- Quincy Via went an impressive 4-for-5 with two doubles, adding a stolen base.
- Farmakides had three RBI on a 3-4 performance with a double.
- Swekosky picked up two knocks with a run driven in.
- Joshmar Carbonell and Ryan Cuadros each added hits.
- Owen Mead and Graham Jones each put up scoreless innings of relief out of the bullpen.

- The Saints look to bounce back tomorrow, as they take on North Central University at 10:30 AM in double header fashion.
