SOFT: Saints Come Up Short Against Messiah

GRANTHAM, Pa. -- Marymount University women's softball team hit the road to make up a postponed game against Messiah University. Although the team fell short in both double header games, the Saints still had some standout plays. 

MESSIAH 15 MARYMOUNT 4

  • Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira provided the biggest offensive spark, going 1-for-3 with a home run, an RBI, and a run scored to lead Marymounts power output
  • Mady Archer had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and consistently setting the tone at the bottom of the lineup
  • Samantha Richtol delivered in key moments, finishing 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk while producing in clutch situations
  • Haylee Carpenter contributed an RBI on her 1-for-3 performance, coming through with runners on base
  • Gracie Himmelman reached base twice, going 1-for-2 with a walk and showing strong on-base presence near the top of the order
  • Tara Corcoran added a hit and scored a run, while also making an impact defensively with four assists at third base
  • Kaylee Atkins controlled first base defensively with a game-high nine putouts and added a walk offensively
  • Samantha Papp worked a walk and stayed active offensively, despite not recording a hit
  • Haley Greer battled through three at-bats and made contact situations happen, including reaching on a fielders choice
  • In the circle, Morgan Maslock provided key relief innings, tossing 3.1 innings and helping stabilize things after a tough start
  • Emma McCormack got the start in the circle, working through early adversity while striking out a batter in her outing

MESSIAH 11 MARYMOUNT 2

  • Haylee Carpenter led the way at the top of the lineup, going 1-for-3 and consistently putting the ball in play while adding solid defense in the infield
  • Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira delivered one of the key offensive moments, going 1-for-2 with an RBI to help account for half of Marymounts scoring
  • Gracie Himmelman and Samantha Richtol set the tone early in the order, working tough at-bats and helping generate opportunities despite a limited offensive output
  • Kaylee Atkins held things down defensively at first base while contributing to the lineups overall effort at the plate
  • Grace Gilbert added depth in the middle of the order, helping keep innings alive and maintain pressure offensively
  • Samantha Papp, Tara Corcoran, and Mady Archer rounded out the lineup, each contributing to Marymounts five total hits and working to spark momentum throughout the game
  • In the circle, Valeria Gutierrez De Oliveira got the start and battled through multiple innings against a tough Messiah lineup
  • Morgan Maslock provided valuable relief, tossing 3.1 innings and helping stabilize the game after the early innings
  • Overall, Marymount finished with five hits and two runs, showing flashes of production even in a challenging matchup
