GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. -- Marymount softball picked up a pair of conference wins in their Atlantic East Conference opening double header at Gwynedd Mercy on Saturday.

Taking the two wins, the Saints improve to 8-8 overall on the season, now sitting 2-0 in AEC action.

The Saints secured a decisive victory over Gwynedd Mercy with a final score of 11–1. In the first inning, the Saints set the tone with Carpenter singling to right field, followed by Greer doubling to center field to bring Carpenter home. A single from Atkins and a double from Archer added three more runs, ending the inning with a 4–0 lead.

The momentum continued in the second inning. After Tara Corcoran's single, Carpenter and Gracie Himmelman reached base, setting the stage for Greer's double, which scored both runners. Atkins' subsequent single brought Greer home, extending the lead to 7–0.

In the third inning, the Saints capitalized on an error by Gwynedd Mercy. Carpenter's single to center field drove in two runs, and Atkins' single brought in two more, pushing the lead to 11–1.

The game concluded after five innings with the Saints maintaining their commanding lead. The final score was the Saints 11, Gwynedd Mercy 1.

Marymount faced Gwynedd Mercy in a tense matchup. In the first inning, Gwynedd Mercy took an early lead with Macey Harrold scoring on a single by Hannah Cohen and Hannah Smith coming home on a groundout. The score was 2–0 in favor of Gwynedd Mercy after one inning.

The third inning saw Gwynedd Mercy extend its lead as Cohen doubled to score both Harrold and Smith. By the end of the third, the score was 4–0.

In the fourth inning, Gwynedd Mercy added two more runs with Gianna Trerotola scoring on a groundout and Kassidy Kehoe coming home on another groundout. The Griffins led 6–0 at the end of the fourth.

Marymount mounted a comeback in the sixth inning. Haylee Carpenter scored on an error, Gracie Himmelman came home on a single by Gilbert, and additional runs were added with a groundout and another single. The score tightened to 6–4.

In a dramatic seventh inning, the Saints completed their comeback. Tara Corcoran was hit by a pitch and later scored on a single by Greer. Ady Lease, who pinch ran for Greer, and Carpenter both scored on a double by Gutierrez De Oliveira, swinging the lead to Marymount. The score was 8–6 after seven innings.

The Saints held Gwynedd Mercy scoreless in the bottom of the seventh, securing an 8–6 victory.
