ASHLAND, Va. -- Marymount softball played a pair of games at Randolph-Macon on Saturday, taking on the hosting Yellow Jackets and New Paltz.
The Saints took down Randolph-Macon for the first time in program history, before dropping the second game of the afternoon to move to 1-3 on the young season.Â
MARYMOUNT 3 - RANDOLPH-MACON 2
- The walkoff win over the Yellow Jackets marks the first in program history.
- Down 2-0, Gracie Himmelman knocked a two-run double to score Tara Corcoran and Haylee Carpenter and even up the tally in the bottom of the fifth.
- Samantha Papp knocked a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the win.
- Carpenter went 2-for-3, scoring a pair of runs.
- Himmelman had two RBI with her double in the fifth.
- Papp, Mannion, and Mady Archer each added hits in the win.
- Bailey Demusz went the distance in the circle to pick up her first win of the year, striking out three while allowing just four hits and two earned runs.
NEW PALTZ 10 - MARYMOUNT 2
- Himmelman added another RBI double in the second game of the day, going 1-2 with a walk.
- Samantha Richtol went 2-for-2 at the plate in the loss.
- Carpenter notched a hit.
- Emma McCormack pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief with a strikeout.
UP NEXT
- The Saints will travel to Sweet Briar College tomorrow to take on the Vixens in double header action starting at 12 PM.
