READING, Pa. — Marymount women's lacrosse opened the 2026 season in commanding fashion on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Alvernia, 14-4, behind a balanced offensive attack and strong defensive play.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
After conceding the first goal, the Saints quickly took control, scoring four unanswered goals to close the opening quarter with a 4-1 lead. Marymount continued to build momentum in the second, capitalizing on free-position and man-up opportunities to extend the advantage to 8-3 at halftime.
The Saints maintained pressure throughout the second half, outscoring the Golden Wolves 6-1 over the final two quarters. A steady defensive effort limited Alvernia to just three shots in the fourth quarter while Marymount closed the game with four goals to seal the 14-4 victory.Â
