BASE: Saints Split Opening Day Double Header

TYSONS, Va. -- Marymount baseball opened up their 2026 season on Saturday, hosting Mary Baldwin University in doubleheader fashion at Capital One Park.

Taking the first game in comeback fashion, the Saints ultimately settled for a split on the day after falling in the nightcap.

MARYMOUNT 9 - MARY BALDWIN 6
  • Quincy Via led the way in the game one win, going 3-4 and scoring three runs. The lead off added three stolen bags to add pressure on the base paths.
  • Ryan Cuadros knocked a pair of doubles and racked up four RBI.
  • Connor Vick, in a pinch-hit opportunity, knocked a two-RBI single in his first collegiate at-bat.
  • Anthony Farmakides added a pair of hits with a run driven in.
  • Joshmar Carbonell knocked an RBI double.
  • The Saints erased a five-run deficit to earn their first win of the season.
  • Gavin Elliot, in his first career outing, threw 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, striking out a pair.
  • Michael Arce earned the win on the mound, tossing the final two innings of the contest without allowing a hit, striking out three.
MARY BALDWIN 9 - MARYMOUNT 2
  • After falling into a 1-0 hole after the top frame of the first, Cuadros answered with a sacrifice fly to even up the tally in the bottom half of the inning, scoring Via who walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Seth Sadler earlier.
  • Mary Baldwin pushed retook the lead, pushing it out to three-runs heading into the bottom of the fifth. Jack Kern knocked an RBI single in the fifth to cut the lead in half.
  • MBU held off the hosting Saints down the stretch to take game two of the day.
  • Chase Allen stood out on the mound in his first career outing, tossing 3.0 innings, allowing just one earned run with a strikeout.
  • Ketz Murray threw a scoreless inning of relief with a pair of punchouts.
UP NEXT
  • Marymount will stay at home next weekend, hosting Lycoming College in a three-game set across Saturday and Sunday.
  • The series will be played at Bishop O'Connell High School with first pitch at noon on both days.
