Elizabeth Stackpole,
Alexis Bumah,
Brigid Donahue,
Angela McKenzie and
Hailey LaBonte, and Stackpole's consecutive blocks tied the set at 13-13 and put the Saints ahead 14-13. After Catholic got within 15-14, the Saints won seven of the next eight rallies as Aber, Bumah, Stackpole and Donahue recorded kills and Stackpole added another block to make it 22-15. Catholic took the next two points, but a service error, a Caroline Welsh attack error and Donahue's kill from
Braelyn Ottolini closed the Saints' 25-18 set win.
The Saints built a 6-3 lead in the second set behind two
Hailey LaBonte kills and Catholic miscues, but Catholic answered with kills from Caroline Welsh and Maddie Wilkey to pull even at 6-6 before moving ahead 9-7. Bumah and Stackpole helped the Saints respond, and after Catholic briefly led 10-9, Stackpole, a Catholic attack error and
Brigid Donahue's kill put the Saints back in front 12-10. Catholic tied the set at 12-12, but Donahue's kill, an
Emerson Aber ace and a Catholic bad set gave the Saints a 15-12 edge, and the Saints later stayed ahead through kills by
Eliana Knaub, LaBonte and Bumah. The Saints pushed the margin to 24-20 on a
Renae Rohrer ace and Donahue's block, and after Catholic scored three straight, Donahue finished the set with a kill from Ottolini for a 25-23 win.
The Saints trailed 8-5 in the third set before Donahue supplied four kills over the next several Saints points, including consecutive swings that tied the set at 9-9 and put the Saints in front 10-9. Catholic moved back ahead 11-10 on a service ace, but the Saints won the next four points and later used kills by
Hailey LaBonte and Knaub to build a 17-12 lead. After Catholic cut it to 17-15,
Elizabeth Stackpole's kill started a six-point Saints run with Ottolini serving the final five points of the stretch, and the Saints closed the set with a Stackpole kill and a Donahue-Stackpole block for a 25-16 win.
