ARLINGTON, Va. — The Marymount women's basketball team secured a gritty 77-72 overtime victory over Marywood on Friday night inside the Converse Family Fieldhouse, improving to 5-1 in Atlantic East Conference play. The Saints erased a double-digit deficit late and leaned on clutch free throws and defensive stops to seal the comeback win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marymount trailed for much of the contest, facing a 60-44 deficit late in the third quarter before shifting momentum with a strong defensive effort and timely transition scoring. The Saints outscored Marywood 22-6 in the fourth quarter to force overtime, capped by a late layup from Catie Kolwey to tie the game at 66. In the extra period, Marymount stayed composed at the line and converted key second-chance opportunities to outlast the Pacers, finishing the game on a decisive run in the final minute.Â
NOTABLE
- Chandler Eddleton led all scorers with 26 points, going 14-for-16 from the free-throw line, including several clutch makes in overtime.
- Catie Kolwey recorded a strong all-around performance with 14 points and six rebounds, while also delivering key defensive plays late.
- Cara Vollmer added 12 points, knocking down three triples and dishing out three assists.
- Marymount forced 21 turnovers and converted them into 26 points, while also scoring 40 points in the paint and 18 on the fast break.
