WVB: Marymount Drops Tight Matches in Home Openers

ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount women's volleyball opened up their home slate on Friday, hosting Shenandoah University and Kean University in Converse Family Fieldhouse in day one of the Marymount Quad.

Dropping a pair of tight matches, the Saints will head into day two tomorrow looking to finish out the weekend with a win. 

SHENANDOAH 3 - MARYMOUNT 1
  • Hailey LaBonte led the Saints in the opener of the day with 10 kills, adding 12 digs and five aces for 15.0 points.
  • Sabrina Shoeberlein had eight kills for Marymount with 15 digs for 11.5 points.
  • Elizabeth Stackpole knocked seven kills with two solo blocks and two block assists, racking up 10.0 points.
  • Johanna Modica had 7.0 points on six kills and two block assists, adding four digs. 
  • Jessica Rothermel led the Saints with 18 assists, with Emerson Aber adding 11.
  • Ava Humphries added 14 digs.
KEAN 3 - MARYMOUNT 1
  • Schoeberlein led the Saints in the kills category in the second match of the day, knocking 10 while adding four digs and a block assist.
  • Modica and Stackpole each had nine kills, both hitting over .300, with Stackpole putting up three block assists and Modica adding a solo block.
  • Alexis Bumah knocked six kills, hitting at a .200 clip, with a block assist.
  • Rothermel put up 20 assists, with Aber adding 15.
  • Humphries dug out 17 digs with four assists for the Saints. 
  • LaBonte had seven kills and 11 digs to finish out the day. 
  • Renae Rohrer had seven digs in both matches.
UP NEXT
  • The Saints will finish out the Marymount Quad tomorrow at 2 PM against Nazareth University. 
  • It will be the final match of the two-day quad match and there will be a short recognition prior to first serve in honor of Maggie Viniard Choate.
