ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount women's volleyball finished up the Marymount Quad on Saturday afternoon in winning fashion, taking down Nazareth in three straight sets.
With the win, Marymount improves their record to 2-4 on the young season.
NOTABLE
- Hailey LaBonte continued to show strong in the early going of the year, knocking 11 kills on a .241 hitting percentage with seven digs and three assists.
- Sophomore Sabrina Schoeberlein put up nine kills on the afternoon with seven digs, racking up 11.0 points.
- Ava Humphries collected nine digs, with teammate Renae Rohrer notching eight.
- Jessica Rothermel led the way with 18 assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Marymount took the advantage quickly, jumping out to a 9-2 lead in the first set with kills from Elizabeth Stackpole and LaBonte in the fold.
- The Saints secured a 10-point lead off back-to-back kills off the hand of LaBonte.
- Schoeberlein finished off the first set with a big kill to take the 1-0 lead.
- The Saints took advantage of key mistakes to again take an early advantage, looking at a 7-2 lead in the early going of set two.
- All knotted up at 11 apiece, Marymount put together a 7-2 run to put themselves ahead by five.
- It was Schoeberlein again who knocked the decisive blow in set two, giving Marymount the heavy advantage.
- Set three proved to be a back-and-forth battle, with Nazareth looking to put up a fight.
- Down by two, Marymount started to gain momentum, and an ace from Emerson Aber gave them a 19-15 lead.
- After the Golden Flyers evened it up at 19, Marymount went on a 6-3 run down the stretch to take the match, with Stackpole knocking down the final kill.
