WSOC: Marymount Strikes in Final Minutes

ARLINGTON, Va. -- With Dina Abdeen striking in the final minutes, the Saints came out on the winning end Saturday afternoon on their home turf against Delaware Valley.

With the win, the Saints improve to 3-1-2 on the season.

NOTABLE
  • Dina Abdeen netted the game-winner in the 89th minute, her second goal of the season.
  • Arianna Garcia provided the assist on Abdeen's late strike.
  • Marymount out shot the Aggies 2402, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal.
  • Goalkeeper Sarah Robinson recorded two saves and secred the shutout in her first start of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Saints dominated possession from the opening whistle, generating a flurry of chances throughout the match. Marymount put 12 shots on frame in the first half, but Delaware Valley goalkeeper stood tall, recording eight saves to keep the contest scoreless at halftime.
  • In the second half, the Saints continued to press forward, with opportunities from Arianna Blanco, Daniela Carrillo-Torres, and Nicole Alvarado testing the Aggies' back line. Despite controlling the pace, Marymount was still searching for the breakthrough as the clock wound down.
  • The decisive moment came in the 89th minute, when Arianna Garcia slipped a pass to Dina Abdeen, who calmly finished to the back of the net to seal the 1-0 victory.
  • The Saints' defense limited Delaware Valley to just two total shots across 90 minutes, never allowing the visitors a clear look at goal.
