FREDERICK, Md. -- Marymount women's soccer fell on the road Wednesday evening, dropping a tight 1-0 decision to Hood College at Thomas Athletic Field
HOW IT HAPPENED
The opening half was a back-and-forth battle as both sides searched for an edge. Marymount generated six shots on the night, with looks from Arianna Blanco, Daniela Carrillo-Torres, and Leila Lajdel testing Hood's back line. Goalkeeper Mara Dufour made three key saves in the first 45 minutes to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
The breakthrough came early in the second half when Hood found the back of the net in the 51st minute, giving the Blazers a 1-0 advantage. Despite continued pushes from the Saints, including four corner kicks and second-half opportunities from Nicole Alvarado and Hannah Driscoll, Marymount couldn't find the equalizer.
The Saints' defensive unit held firm to keep Hood from extending the lead, but the single goal stood as the difference in the contest.
