WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Marymount women's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw with Catholic University on Wednesday night at Carlini Field. The Saints move to 2-1-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Saints opened the scoring late in the first half when Dina Abdeen came off the bench and delivered a finish in the 38th minute to put Marymount ahead 1-0. The goal capped off a strong stretch of possession in which the Saints kept Catholic's goalkeeper busy with multiple first-half saves.
Catholic found the equalizer early in the second half, tying the match at 1-1 in the 56th minute. From there, the Cardinals pushed forward and out shot Marymount 22-10 over the course of the night, testing the Saints' defense with consistent pressure.
Goalkeeper Mara Dufour kept Marymount in contention with a standout performance, making nine saves between the posts. The Saints also generated opportunities of their own, recording six shots on target, but couldn't find a second breakthrough.
Both defenses held strong in the closing minutes, and neither side was able to convert late chances as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
