ARLINGTON, Va. -- Marymount women's lacrosse came through when it mattered, shooting down the Neumann Knights at home on Wednesday in overtime, 15-14.
The win puts the Saints overall record to 11-2, now sitting at 2-0 in the AEC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neumann opened the day on a 6-2 run, with goals from Ella Baker and Bailey Gehler keeping the Saints within striking distance.
- Down 6-2, the Saints went on a quick three goal run, highlighted by a pair of nets from Taylor Chepren, to close the gap to just a lone goal.
- The Knights scored once more to take a 7-5 lead heading into the half.
- After two goals from Neumann to open the second half of action, Tess Valentino and Arayla Garcia each put one in the net to keep Marymount to answer.
- The Saints scored four unanswered, capped off by another from Baker, to take their first lead of the day in the fourth quarter.
- Continuing to go back-and-forth, the Saints were staring at a one-goal deficit with mere seconds left on the game clock.Â
- Gehler came through, driving down the field and sinking the goal to tie up the game with three seconds left.
- It didn't take long for Marymount to get it done in overtime, as Gehler yet again came through for the Blue, scoring the golden goal and sending the Saints into celebration.
- Gehler had seven points, all on goals, alongside six draw controls and four ground balls.
- Baker had five points on two goals and three assists.
- Riley Love dished out four assists, causing a turnover along the way.
- Valentino, Garcia, and Chepren all added a pair of goals.
- Abby Dunn had two caused turnovers and four ground balls, adding two draws.
- Natalia Ortiz caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls.
- Olivia Durso caused a pair of turnovers and picked up a ground ball.
- Carmella Garcia had six draw controls, coming up big down the stretch to maintain key possession.
- Hannah Smith earned the win in the net, nabbing 17 total saves.

- The Saints will stay at home this Saturday, taking on Centenary in another AEC match up at 1Â PM.
