Arlington, VA. – Marymount women's lacrosse delivered a swift victory against Centenary University, winning 21-1.
This brings their record to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Saints claimed the first possession with a successful draw control by Abby Dunn. Tess Valentino was first to score in the game. Three quick goals followed Valentino's goal. The three goals were earned by Natalia Ortiz assisted by Riley Love, Love assisted by Taylor Chepren, and Ella Baker assisted by Bailey Gehler. Marymount's defense set the tone for the game, holding Centenary to no shots in the first quarter. The Saints added six more goals to the board before the end of the first quarter. Three goals were scored by Valentino and both Love and Gehler scored one.
- Gehler was first to score in the second quarter, scoring unassisted from a free position shot. After the draw, the Saints played defense in the attack by causing three failed clear attempts by the Cyclones that resulted in a goal by Kaylee Heath. The first shot by the Cyclones was denied by Hannah Smith. After a successful clear by Marymount, Emily Prensky scored off a pass from Ella Baker. Centenary scored just before the half, making the score 13-1.
- Arayla Garcia started the second half for Marymount with a draw control to gain possession. A. Garcia also scored the first goal of the half, assisted by Love. Five additional goals were scored by Marymount in the third quarter. Two goals were scored by Valentino with assists from Chepren and Love. The other three goals were scored by Ortiz assisted by Love, Chepren unassisted, and Carmella Garcia unassisted. The Saints' defense had a second shutout quarter, no shots were allowed by the Marymount defense.
- The fourth quarter began with a draw control by A. Garcia. Goal one of the quarter was scored by Marymount's Brooke Bretney unassisted. The Saints allowed two shot attempts by Centenary in the fourth quarter but both were saved by Ava Vautour. Marymount finished the game with one last goal scored by Ortiz from a man-down position. The goal was assisted by Mackenzie Morrissette. The game ended with a score of 21-1.
- Notable moments by the Saints: Tess Valentino led the Saints in goals by scoring six goals. Riley love contributed to eight points in the game, scoring two goals and assisting in six goals. Arayla Garcia had a season high with seventeen successful draw controls. Bailey Gehler defended in the midfield for Marymount with three caused turn overs and five ground balls. Ava Vautour had two saves for Marymount in the fourth quarter.

- The Saints will play on the road April 16th against Immaculata. The game with take place in Immaculata, Pa. The game will start at 5pm.
- The Saints' next home appearance will be on Saturday April 19th, where the Saints will face off against Chatham University at 12pm. The game will take place at Long Bridge Park.
